Kentucky Will Open New York Arena

Cal and his Cats are going to New York. Kentucky will play the first basketball game in the $1 billion Barclays Center. That's even before the the NBA becomes the home of the Nets, who will be moving from New Jersey.

Crainsnewyork.com is reporting that Kentucky will play Maryland. The arena is scheduled to open in September of 2012. This matchup is being called a major highlight for the new arena.

The arena in Brooklyn, New York which will hold 18,000 seats has already sold close to half of its 100 corporate suites.

It also has 163 events booked for the first year, including 44 Nets games. Their goal is to have more than 220 events in year one.

There will be 4,400 premium season tickets which will be going for as much as $1500 a game.

The Barclays Center will have Loft suites that are being pitched at $215,000. They will be competing for the New York Entertainment dollar with Madison Square Garden which is the home of the New York Knicks.
