Emergency crews were on the scene of a deadly crash involving an off-duty Kentucky State Police trooper on I-64 east in Clark County Tuesday evening.
Officials identified the man killed as Trooper Anson "Blake" Tribby, 25.
Police said they weren't sure what caused the crash involving a pick up truck, driven by Tribby, and a flatbed truck. The accident took place at mile marker 99, just after 7 p.m. Officials say the pickup crashed into the rear of the flatbed. Tribby was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the flatbed was not hurt.
Tribby leaves behind a wife. KSP officials said he was a 2-and-a-half year veteran with KSP, working out of the the Morehead Post.
"Trooper Tribby wore the gray. KSP gray and we're one family when you think about KSP our gender is Trooper, color gray," KSP Trooper Ronald Turley said.
Both the westbound and eastbound lanes were shut down for a few hours Tuesday evening, as crews worked to reconstruct the accident.
