HODGENVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police say a sheriff's deputy has fatally shot a suspect who was driving toward him at a high rate of speed.
Police told The Courier-Journal (http://cjky.it/YYcLvZ) that the Larue County deputy had tried to stop a reckless driver Friday night, but the suspect didn't pull over and a pursuit ensued. When the driver spun out and stopped, the deputy pulled over and began to approach the vehicle. Police say at that point, the male suspect began speeding toward the deputy, who shot at the car several times and hit the driver in the head.
The driver was taken to University Hospital in Louisville, where he was pronounced dead on Saturday morning. The deputy wasn't injured.
State police continue to investigate.
