We know it's Samford. No reason to be negative even though UK beat a team who now owns a 3-7 record.

Doron Lamb had 26 points on 8 of 12 shooting and he forced nothing. And he pulled down 6 rebounds.

As obvious as it is that Lamb has improved, you can't wait to see if he can do the same thing against Louisville. If he does that, it's another sign that he's a totally different player.

"Let me just tell you," says Cal. "The extra time he is spending on that basketball court, before practice after practice, you all are seeing the benefit from it."

Lamb is quick to tell you he never forces anything.

"The harder you work the better shots come to you," says Lamb.

"I'm moving without the ball very well. I'm going off screens very well. I'm in the best position of making shots."

Terrence Jones with his bad finger couldn't play and wasn't available to the media after the game. It can be both special and tough playing for UK.

"The Kentucky effect is you can present it in a way that everything happens at a good, but when something goes wrong, you don't play well, all of a sudden the world is ending, oh my gosh he stinks," says Cal.

Kidding around Cal said when Jones comes back he'll make him the 13th man.

To the most important Cat. That's whoever is playing point guard for Cal. He was happy with the way Teague ran the team.

Marquis Teague had 2 buckets that beat the shot clock, 14 points, 5 assists and 4 turnovers.

"Yeah he told me he was happy with what I did," says the freshman. "My pace was good and I just tried to get everyone involved."

"He did a tremendous job of running the team," says Cal.

"He had two or three balls that I said he should have passed that he tried to score. But he's learning and he listens."

It's just a little thing but Eloy Vargas had two points and 7 rebounds in 17 minutes. On defense, he moves his feet so much better than last year it's great to see. Maybe in a limited role Vargas can be terrific. Plus Cal admits that there could be times where Vargas will play instead of Kyle Wiltjer because of Vargas' ability to play defense.

Cal would never have made that comment in August.

You beat a cupcake, but even with that, you can see little things that the Cats are getting better at.
