Improvements along seven miles of Interstate 64 in Bath County will restrict traffic beginning next week, the week of March 25, between mile markers 117 and 124 near Owingsville.
Contractors will close one lane - first the right lane, then the left - of the Slate Creek-Kendall Springs Road bridge at the 120 mile marker through mid-April to replace the bridge's surface. A width restriction of 10 feet will be in effect for all traffic.
At the same time, traffic could experience intermittent lane closures throughout the project area as contractors make roadway and slide repairs in advance of full paving operations. The first round of paving will require a three-mile lane closure between mile markers 117 and 120 by mid-April.
Interstate repairs are also ongoing in Rowan County between mile markers 134 and 138 near Morehead.
Motorists are advised to watch for warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
