It was a tragedy in LaRue County that showed the love between a couple. John and Chong Muir were found dead outside their home, killed while working on their son's car Tuesday night.
It was clear from talking to people who knew the Muirs, that they were special. Their love so strong, that when John and Chong were found crushed underneath a car, they were still holding each other's hand.
"It reminds us that life can change in a second," said their former pastor and good friend, Mike Williams. It's a sad truth that he wasn't expecting to be reminded of, especially when it came to two people he cared for so dearly.
"They were just great people wonderful people the kind of people that would do anything for anybody," said Williams. While the hard working and kind couple were loved by many, no one misses them more than their last living son.
"Just hearing what had happened it was just a shock, its hard to describe what went through my mind, but of course my heart broke for their son Danny," said Williams. Danny discovered his parents crushed under his car.
The Sheriff said John was working on the car when the terrible accident happened. The pastor said John had removed the front right tire and was changing the oil when something went wrong. "It seems like maybe it had fell on him first and she was either trying to get him out from under the car or trying to console him after," said Williams.
John and Chong's bodies were found hours later. The couple were still holding hands. "They had a very strong love for one another.... It just exemplified their love for each other," said Williams.
Now, as friends and family cherish their memories of John and Chong, they keep in mind all that the couple loved. "They not only loved each other, they not only loved their family but they loved the lord," said Williams.
Funeral arrangements for the Muirs are still being made.
