The Laurel County man charged with holding his family hostage Monday pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges of assault and wanton endangerment.

Sheriff's deputies say 41-year-old Donald Dixon forced his family inside their home Monday. After a brief standoff with officers, he let them go and surrendered.

Deputies say the incident likely started as a family fight.
