"Layaway Angels" have made the holiday bright for a number of Lexington families this year.

A spokesperson at K-Mart in Lexington says between 25 and 30 people have come in to the store on Nicholasville Road to pay off Christmas layaway accounts for complete strangers. Most have paid between $150 and $200, usually asking for an account including children's toys.

Sunday, a woman, who only identified herself as "Secret Santa" was inside the store, passing out $50 bills to customers.

These "layaway angels" have also hit stores outside of Kentucky. At a store in West Virginia, someone recently paid off $8,000 in layaway items.
