(AP) - If Santa left a houseful of gadgets for Christmas and didn't carry away the old stuff, Lexington officials are offering a way to recycle.
The city says its E-Cycle program will accept structurally intact electronics and holiday lights at its center on Versailles Road, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported. The hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursday and Fridays; noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays; and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
Recycling the items keeps lead and other hazardous contaminants from landfills, where they could harm the environment.
The E-Cycle center can't take broken items, such as TVs with broken screens. Such items should be taken to Bluegrass Waste Alliance transfer station on Frankfort Pike.
