Lexington firefighters stayed busy Wednesday night, battling two fires.
Crews responded to a kitchen fire at the Canterbury Apartments along Lakeshore Drive. Neighbors say the 19-year-old man who lives there survived Hurricane Katrina. The fire did not cause extensive damage, but it did destroy some cabinets.
There were no reported injuries. Firefighters have not determined what caused the blaze.
Residents in neighboring units were moved to vacant apartments for the night.
Firefighters worked a second fire at Back Construction Company off East Loudon around the same time. Witnesses say a propane tank apparently exploded inside a garage. Firefighters had to cut their way inside to put out the blaze.
There were no reported injuries and firefighters say damage to the building was minimal.
