Lexington firefighters quickly put out a fire in a Lexington townhome early Wednesday morning.

Officials say a police officer spotted smoke coming from the second floor of a townhouse on Mousas Way around 4 a.m. and called in firefighters. There was nobody living in either unit in the building, and it remains unclear what caused the fire.

There were no reported injuries.

Firefighters say an investigator will check out the scene later Wednesday morning.
