Officials say embers in a fireplace likely sparked a fire that damaged a Lexington home Tuesday night.
Firefighters responded to the house on Newport Drive, just off Tates Creek Road and New Circle Road, around 8 p.m. Crews quickly extinguished the flames. The house sustained some smoke and water damage.
Officials say embers caused a chimney fire and flames burned into the attic. Investigators say the home is under renovation and nobody lives there.
There were no reported injuries.
