Fire destroyed a home in Lexington early Wednesday morning.
Neighbors spotted flames coming from a home along Elam Village Drive, off Winchester Road, around 1:30 a.m. and called 911. When firefighters arrived, the home was fully engulfed, with flames shooting from the roof. Firefighters had to deal with high winds, along with live power lines that melted away from the house and fell into the front yard.
"We had, of course, rough conditions responding to it with the snow and the wind, didn't help with the fire either," Lexington Fire Department Battalion Chief Andrew Areux said.
There were no reported injuries.
The home reportedly belongs to a former firefighter who was making improvements for his son.
