Lexington's cooling center at Dunbar Community Center will remain open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., through Sunday, July 8.

The Center, located at 545 North Upper Street, is a place for citizens to escape the soaring temperatures, said Jerry Hancock, director of the city's Division of Parks and Recreation.

Lexington residents who need a ride to the center can use Lextran for free, said Jill Barnett, a spokesperson for Lextran. Officials suggest if you are coming to the center, bring a blanket, pillows and bottled water.
