A Lexington murder trial is scheduled to begin Monday.
Mark Cave, 29, faces several charges including murder, evidence tampering and credit card fraud in connection with the death of his mother, Sharon Cave.
The 54-year-old woman was first reported missing in December 2011. According to court documents, Mark Cave admitted from jail that he killed his mother and hid her body earlier that summer. Police found Sharon Cave's badly decomposed remains stuff in a trash can in a wooded area off Fortune Drive in February 2012.
According to the Herald Leader, Mark Cave will take the stand in his own defense during the trial.
