LFUCG's Divisions of Environmental Policy and Waste Management have put together an Opt Out Program to help eliminate unnecessary phone books, junk mail and catalogs coming to area homes.
At www.lexingtonky.gov/optout, you will find all of the information you need to be on your way to a more waste-free lifestyle. This webpage contains links to websites to help you reduce or eliminate the amount of phone books, catalogs and junk mail you receive. The website also contains information on how to block credit card offers and unwanted phone calls to your home.
When signing up for any of the three sites, remember that it could take up to six months for all changes to take effect - especially with junk mail.
You can even select your preferences for each site. For example (using yellowpagesoptout.com), if you like receiving one phone book per year, you can deselect all others that are shipped to your house.
You can indicate which telephone book you still want to receive and how often you would like it delivered. Each site is different in its own way, so feel free to try out different sites and find those that suit your needs.

Always recycle any unwanted telephone book or catalog by placing them in your Rosie recycling container.
