A group of active and retired Lexington police officers and firefighters will head to New York Wednesday to assist with superstorm Sandy recovery efforts.
The group will haul a load of supplies donated by Lexington residents.
"What we're trying to do by sending this group of officers, active and retired, is to help these officers up there who are spending 20 hours of their own day helping the families of the victims up in New York," Fraternal Order Of Police representative Mike Sweeny said.
The group will spend four working days in New York, returning on Nov. 19.
