Lexington police continue the search for a man who escaped from a jail transport vehicle on Wednesday afternoon.
Mustafa Qasem, 20, got away in the area of New Circle Road and Old Frankfort Pike around 1 p.m. He jumped a fence and ran into an industrial area. Workers at a nearby businesses managed to corner him, but he got away. Police later located an ankle bracelet he apparently cut off.
Qasem was in custody on a bond violation, but officials say they still consider him dangerous.
"Anytime anybody's escaped from jail, it's a cause for concern. We've notified the schools. If anybody sees him, call 9-1-1 immediately."
Qasem stands about 6-feet tall and weighs around 145 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt and gray shorts. Police also say he may still have part of his handcuffs attached to his wrist.
