Lexington Police Continue To Investigate Double Shooting

Two men were shot while riding through Lexington early Sunday morning, but they were still able to get themselves to a Lexington hospital.

Lexington Police say two men, a driver and his passenger, were shot as they drove through town. They were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Police have not officially released their names.

Police say the shooting happened just after 2:30 in the morning on Bolivar Street, right around the corner from the University of Kentucky and student housing.

"I really didn't think that there was that potential of that magnitude of a crime potentially right here this close to campus," says William Parker Dunn, a University of Louisville student visiting campus.

William Dunn was visiting friends who happen to live on Bolivar. "I have somebody who lives in this building, it's pretty scary. It happened right next door," he says.

Dunn and his friends walked down Bolivar Street Sunday morning toward Tolly Ho. Witnesses tell police the shooting happened right behind the 24-hour restaurant.

From there, the driver was able to get the car to Saint Joseph's Hospital on South Broadway. The two injured men were later taken to UK Hospital. There was a third passenger in the car who was not hurt. Police say he is not a suspect.

Lexington Police say they are short on leads so they are hoping the public can provide more information as they investigate. If you have any information, call police.
