Lexington Police continue to investigate after a man was tied up with duct tape Monday night by three men before they searched a home for money while the rest of the family in the home looked on.
The victims told police that three masked men forced their way into their home on Stoney Park Lane, off Leestown Road, about 9 p.m. Monday. Initial reports said that the suspects tied the couple up with duct tape and then brought their three young children downstairs and bound them as well, but those reports were erroneous, as only the man in the home was tied up.
Police say the men seemed to know the layout of the house, including the exact location of the family's safe.
"It's a new low," Lexington Police Lt. Chris VanBrackel said. "Certainly it's somebody we want to put extra effort into finding and catching tonight if we possibly can."
Investigators say the trio stole some cash and escaped in a silver passenger car.
The family was not physically hurt.
Police have not made any arrests.
