Police continue to investigate an early morning shooting in Lexington's Winburn neighborhood.

Police say the victim told them he was in front of the Fox Run Apartments on McCullough Drive around 1:45 a.m. when three men approached him. He says he felt threatened and pulled a knife to defend himself. Undeterred, the three men assaulted him, and during the scuffle, the victim suffered a gunshot wound the leg.

Investigators say the victim showed up at a local hospital about 45 minutes later.

Police say they only have a vague description of the three suspects.
