A Lexington Chinese restaurant was robbed Tuesday and employees say they were shocked that it happened in the middle of the day.
The incident happened at about 2:15 p.m. at The Great Wall on Waller Avenue. The owner says the robber wasted no time after he waited for the lunch crowd to clear out
"I saw this guy before," said owner Sharon Jiang. "He was my customer before. I was very scared."
A restaurant worker heard what was happening and ran to help Jiang. After a brief struggle, the robber ran away. Jiang then chased the robber into the street and called for help. She saw him get into a red truck and drive away, but not before clipping a cab whose driver tried to block the thief.
Jiang was able to pass the robber's license plate number along to police.
