Lexington Police are searching for a person who fled the scene on foot after slamming a pickup truck into a fire hydrant late Sunday night.
The incident happened just before midnight on New Circle Road on the inner loop between the Georgetown Road and Newtown Pike exits. Police say that water from the broken hydrant flooded part of the road, making it hazardous because of the cold temperatures.
Police say crews were able to cap the hydrant, and the area was re-opened completely after several hours.
Police say that besides the driver, they believe two other people may have been inside the pickup who also fled the scene. They are continuing to investigate.
