Wind apparently blew down a traffic light at a Lexington intersection Monday night, causing some traffic issues downtown.

Around 11:30 p.m., an officer reported the light at the intersection of Broadway and Short Street hanging low over the pavement. But witnesses say the drooping light failed to deter some drivers.

"We saw a bus go through, and a police officer stopped, and people kept trying to go through the traffic light, which was insane. Finally, enough officers came that they've got it blocked off," George Edwards said.

The intersection was shut down for several hours as crews made repairs.
