DeAndre Liggins is on the grind, going from one NBA team after another - and recently one famous front office executive after another - in hopes of elevating his stock in the NBA draft.
"All these teams want to see you do transition drills, talk on defense, be competitive, work hard, be a good person and that's what I try to do," Liggins said shortly after working out for the Pacers Monday.
The mental and physical grind that comes with continually having to prove yourself in front of a new group of coaches and executives in a new city day after day does not seem to be wearing on Liggins.
"You don't have to be perfect. They know you travel across the world and you're probably tired. They know all that but they want you to bring that full energy the entire workout, and that's what I try to do," he said.
Liggins says teams understand his strength is as a defender and are looking to see how his offensive game is developing.
The uncertainly of his future does not seem to weigh on him. Asked if he was worried about the possibility of not having a job after the June 23 draft, Liggins said he already feels like he is employed.
"My job is to keep working hard and staying focused on what I have to do," he said.
