A lightning strike may have sparked an Estill County fire Monday afternoon.
John Isfort says a bolt of lightning hit the roof of his house as storms rumbled across the county around 2:30 p.m. The blaze cause significant damage. To add insult to injury, Isfort says he just completed a $60,000 remodeling job on the home.
There were no reported injuries.
Isfort says the community support makes the loss a little easier to cope with.
"At one time today, I think there were nearly 150 people here, and when you look out and see that, it's very humbling," he said.
Isfort says he and his family plan to stay with relatives until they get back on their feet.
