A Georgetown school has received state-wide and nation-wide recognition in a recycling competition.
St. John School won the "Great American Can Roundup competition out of all schools in the state of Kentucky. The award recognizes the school's recycling efforts.
In addition to this announcement, the school also placed top five in the nationwide competition, the "Dream Machine Recycle Rally" which is sponsored by PepsiCo., Inc.
The award consists of a $2,000 check to be used toward green improvements at the school.
The Dream Machine Recycle Rally is a recycling program that gives schools a chance to earn rewards and compete for contest prizes, all while helping to make the planet a cleaner, greener place, and supporting post-9/11 disabled U.S. veterans.
St. John Catholic School is located in Georgetown, Kentucky with 175 students from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
St. John School will be having an assembly inside St. John the Evangelist Church for various awards, including recognition to the Green Team on their recycling efforts on Monday, May 20th, at 1:30p.m.
