A Madison County man was arrested Thursday night after police say he tried to burglarize a home and was stopped by the home owner at gunpoint.
The incident happened at about 10:55 p.m. at a home on Gabbard Town Road. The Madison County Sheriff's Office received a call of a burglary in progress at the home. While en route to the call, deputies were advised the home owner had the suspect at gunpoint.
The home owner told the deputies that the suspect had entered his garage through an outside door and was inside at the time they placed him on the ground at gunpoint until deputies could arrive. The garage was not attached to the victim's house but was located in the rear and approximately 40 feet near the house.
Upon arriving at the scene deputies found that the home owner had the suspect at gun point and took Charles C. Harvey, 33, into custody without incident.
Harvey was charged with third-degree burglary and was held in the Madison County Detention Center.
