The man accused in Lexington's first murder of 2013 had his case waived to a grand jury in a hearing Wednesday morning.
Quante Johnson, 18, is accused of shooting and killing 48-year-old Joe Randolph on January 5 at Randolph's Lexington home on Simpson Avenue.
According to Johnson's family, the teen says he shot Randolph in self defense, and that he claims Randolph attempted to rob him.
After nearly two weeks of investigating, authorities contacted Johnson's family, who then urged the alleged murderer to turn himself in to police.
