Police in Laurel County have arrested a man who allegedly made a false 911 call.
The incident happened at about 6:45 p.m. Monday. Police say the phone caller told 911 dispatchers that he had strangled his girlfriend and she was not breathing. Police responded to the scene on Sherry Street, located about six miles east of London. Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders determined that the call for help had been false.
The investigation on Tuesday afternoon into the false phone call led deputies to Michael Jones, 58, of London, who police say apparently had a disagreement with a family member so he decided to make the phone call.
Jones is charged with falsely reporting an incident. He is being held in the Laurel County Detention Center.
