Kentucky State Police say an 18-year-old man faces arson charges in Scott County after he tried to burn down his ex-girlfriend's home.

Police arrested Brian Beaucham after the Sunday morning fire along Bunkerhill Drive in Georgetown.

Police say Beaucham poured gasoline in the crawlspace and lit it in an attempt to burn the house down. The girl's father, Danny Parker, suffered second and third degree burns as he and his son put out the flames.

"A father, a husband will do anything to protect their family. I don't care what you have to do. You'll die for them, so if I have to get burned 50 times more to make sure my family's alright, she's alright I'd do it again right now." he said.

Parker says they suspected Beaucham was behind the blaze from the beginning.

"We had had trouble with an ex-boyfriend of my daughter's, and we had suspicions it was him."

Police arrested Beaucham Monday morning.

Parker was released from the hospital after treatment for his burns.
