Man Arrested After Car Hits Deer

An off-duty corrections officer took a man into custody after an accident and scuffle in Lexington early Friday morning.

Police say Jeffrey Mark Bruner, 45, hit a deer along Old Frankfort Pike, but kept going, even after his airbag deployed. Bruner finally stopped after driving about a half-mile. At that point, an off-duty corrections officer stopped to help out. But police say Bruner refused to report the accident, and when the officer pulled out his phone to call it in, the driver snatched it away. At that point, the off-duty officer put Bruner in handcuffs and called 911.

When police arrived, they arrested Bruner and charged him with DUI, assault, criminal mischief and driving on a suspended license.
