Lexington police say officers arrested a man after he drove away from a crash early Tuesday morning.

Police say the suspect rear-ended a car along New Circle Road around 3 a.m. and drove away. The other driver followed and called 911. Officers stopped the man near Family Circle Drive. Police arrested Michael R. Peerman, 21, after putting him through field sobriety tests and charged him with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without insurance.

Officials have not released his name.
