A Trimble County man has been arrested after police say he shot and killed a dog in front of numerous children who were playing nearby.

The incident happened Monday near U.S. 42 West in Bedford.Police say Troy Pollock, 23, shot at the dog in front of some children, then chased the dog as it fled to a nearby garage. The say Pollock continued to shoot at the dog in the garage, where other children were playing, and continued shooting the animal until its death.

Pollock is charged with first-degree cruelty to animals and first-degree wanton endangerment. He is being held in the Carroll County Detention Center.
