Police in Madison County took a man into custody after a four hour standoff at his home Thursday.
Police say a woman who lives at a home along Taylors Fork Road called 911, reporting that her husband attacked her. Investigators say John Friend, 43, assaulted the woman with a pistol and held her against her will, until she was able to escape. When officers arrived, Friend refused to come out. Madison County Sheriff's deputies called the Kentucky State Police special response team to assist.
After a standoff, officers finally took Friend into custody without incident.
Police charged him with assault and they say additional charges are possible.
