Police arrested a man after a van rolled into a Lexington apartment building Thursday night.
Police say the driver of the van and another man got into an argument in the parking lot of the Pinebrook Apartments on Tates Creek Road near Man 'O War Boulevard around 10:30 p.m. At some point, the driver got out of the vehicle and failed to put it in park. The van rolled into the building, knocking a hole in the brick wall.
Meanwhile, the van driver was chased across four lanes of traffic, through the parking lot of Cheddar's and to the nearby Thorntons. The man told police somebody fired shots, but officers say they found no evidence of gunfire. Police say he denied driving the van at first, but after further questioning, admitted he was behind the wheel.
Police arrested Benjamin B. Nesbitt, 18, and charged him with leaving the scene of an accident, driving without insurance and driving on a suspended license.
According to court documents, officers found two baggies containing 172 Oxycodone pills when they searched Nesbitt at the jail. Now he faces additional charges of trafficking a controlled substance and promoting contraband.
