A Nicholasville man was arrested Wednesday night after police say he participated in a demolition derby at the Jessamine County Fair while under the influence.
Police say David Warner, 36, was arrested after the derby, which he won. According to witnesses at the fair, Warner was intoxicated while he drove his automobile in the derby. Police approached Warner and made the determination that he was under the influence of alcohol or other drugs and placed him under arrest.
Police advised that the derby had already begun by the time they got to the area where it was being held. Numerous witnesses advised that Warner had consumed several Bud Light beers while he was preparing to drive in the derby. Police observed Warner operating his car and exiting his car after the event. Warner was very uncooperative with police and refused to take any field sobriety tests.
No one was injured during the event and no additional details are available at this time.
