A man was arrested in Mercer County Monday morning following a police chase that started in Anderson County.
The incident started just after 10 a.m. in Anderson County and went on for an estimated 40 minutes. State troopers from the Frankfort post pulled over 38-year-old Dallas Crawford of Russell County for a seatbelt violation. While he was stopped, police ran his name and discovered at least one warrant for theft.
Crawford refused to get out of the car, and police tried to use a taser when he then took off with his dog also in the car. The chase reached up to speeds of 90 mph and went into Mercer County, where it ended at Bohon Road when Crawford crashed into the back of a Harrodsburg police cruiser and then crashed through a fence and landed near a creek.
Crawford will be charged with wanton endangerment in both Anderson and Mercer counties. he was checked out by EMTs on the scene because the trooper said he told them his blood sugar might be low.
