Police in Laurel County are investigating a possible meth lab explosion that injured a man over the weekend.
The Laurel County Sheriff says a deputy was called at 8:30 p.m. Saturday after a man had walked into a business on Kentucky 490 , about four miles north of London, and reportedly had severe chemical burns to his head and eyes.
When the deputy arrived, it was reported that unknown male subjects had thrown liquid fire into the vicitm's face over on Kentucky 30 nearby. However, as the deputy continued his investigation, it is believed that the male subject was the victim of a meth lab explosion, because none of his reported story could be confirmed in any way.
The man was takent to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment. E.R. doctors advised deputies that the man will probably lose total sight in one eye, and possibly the second eye as well. He had burns about the top of his head, face and chin consistent with a meth lab explosion.
The man was very uncooperative with deputies and very little information was developed from interviews with him. He was identified only as a male in his mid 30's from south London.
The investigation is continuing.
