A man who locked himself inside his Lexington home for over five hours in a standoff with police while armed with several guns has been charged with growing marijuana and violation of protective order.
James Lee Vance surrendered to officers just after 7 a.m. Monday at his home on Della Drive. Police were called there after a neighbor heard gunshots. When officers got there, Vance was on his front lawn with a rifle, then ran inside and refused to come out.
Police recovered what appeared to be marijuana plants, several rifles, and an exotic snake before taking Vance to jail.
Police arrested a second man who was inside the house with Vance. James Lee Jones turned himself over halfway through the stand-off. He was charged for not paying outstanding fines.
