Police say a Frankfort man was arrested and charged with numerous offenses after he allegedly led police on a chase following a hit and run incident Sunday.
The incident happened at about 12:30 p.m. Police say an officer witnessed a hit and run crash in the right hand turning lane from the Thornhill Bypass onto northbound Schenkel Lane. The vehicle failed to stop after the collision, and the officer attempted to stop the vehicle by activating his emergency lights & siren.
As the vehicle was fleeing at a high rate of speed, it turned onto Bypass Plaza Drive. The suspect, Simyon J. Minion, 30, stopped the car in the Clay Villa Apartment complex parking lot, exited the car and began to run on foot. After a short foot pursuit, he was apprehended.
Minion was charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree fleeing or evading police and leaving the scene of an accident-failure to render aid.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that Minion is a wanted fugitive, and is the subject of numerous outstanding arrest warrants in both Franklin County and Wood County, Ohio.
Minion is being held in the Franklin County Regional Jail.
