Man Convicted In 1998 Shooting Arrested On Drug Charges

A man convicted of manslaughter in a 1999 shooting in Lexington is back behind bars facing drug charges.

Franklin County deputies arrested Darius Shareef, 36, Wednesday. Deputies say they found crack cocain, scales and $1,000 cash in his Frankfort home.

Shareef was formerly known as Darius Burdell and was convicted of manslaughter in the 1998 shooting of his second cousin, Fred C. Dunson, 21, on Osage Court in Lexington.

Shareef now faces drug possession and trafficking charges.
