A man convicted of second-degree manslaughter in the death of a Lexington Marine back in April 2011 was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the case Thursday.
A jury convicted Mike Rieder of second-degree manslaughter in the shooting death of James Muzic. Investigators say Muzic asked the former UK physical plant employee for a ride in April 2011, and some type of altercation ensued. Police say Rieder pulled Muzic out of the car and shot him in front of the Shell Station on the corner of Eastland Drive and New Circle Road.
The jury had recommended a 10-year sentence for Rieder.
