Man Convicted of Murder Now Cleared Of Charge

After almost 10 years behind bars, a Louisville man is now a free and innocent man. But possibly just as shocking as that is the identity of the other man now linked to the crime.

A group called "The Innocence Project" has helped prove the innocence of Edwin Chandler.

He was previously convicted of the 1995 murder of 25-year-old Brenda Whitfield who was shot and killed at a Louisville gas station.

When the case was recently re-opened police discovered a previously unmatched fingerprint that was lifted from a beer bottle left on the counter by the shooter.

Here comes the bizarre twist: The fingerprint was matched to a man named Percy Phillips. He is the same man who recently got national attention after an outburst in court where he was shot with a taser while appearing on unrelated charges.

So while Chandler was cleared, Phillips was indicted in the Whitfield murder Tuesday morning.

Chandler says he's not pointing fingers. He's just ready to get back to the life he's missed for so long.
