Man Dies In Mercer County House Fire

A Mercer County man is dead after officials say he was discovered on the floor of his kitchen after a fire at his home.

Officials say the fire was discovered at about 11:45 p.m. Monday at a home on Short Road in Salvia. Officials say Roscoe Brown, 67, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy showed he died of smoke inhalation.

Fire investigators say the blaze appears to have started while Brown was trying to re-light a propane heater and something went wrong.
