A Powell County jury late Friday afternoon found a man guilty of lesser charges in a deadly DUI crash.

A jury found Brian Epperson guilty of second-degree manslaughter, fourth-degree assault and operating a motor vehicle under the influence. He'd been on trial this week, accused of hitting and killing Donald Tharp in 2011. He had faced a murder charge.

Tharp's family, who drove upon the scene not long after the crash, describe the past year as a long, arduous wait for justice.

The jury is expected to decide on a sentence shortly.
