A man is being credited with helping save three people from a fire at a Lexington home early Monday morning.

The fire broke out at about 2:30 a.m. at a home on East Loudon Avenue between Maple Avenue and Idewild Court. Neighbor Chris Soulis thought he had smelled smoke earlier in the evening, then he heard screaming coming from the home next door.

It turns out the screams were coming from his neighbors as their house was on fire, Soulis acted quickly by calling 9-1-1 and then helped get his neighbors out of their home with a flashlight.

Officials at the scene say at least three people were hurt, and one of them was unresponsive at the scene. There is no word on their names or conditions so far.

Officials say fire seems to have possibly started in the kitchen area of the home, but crews are still working to determine what caused the fire.
