A train ran over a man lying on tracks near the University of Kentucky campus early Friday morning.
Police say they got the call around 4:15 a.m. The engineer of the Norfolk Southern train told investigators that she saw the man lying on the tracks near Virginia Avenue and Export Street. She was not able to stop, and the train ran over the man. Police did not identify the victim, but said he was in his 20s. It remains unclear whether the man was dead before the train hit him or if the impact killed him.
Police continue to investigate.
