A man was taken from a Laurel County marina to the hospital Thursday morning after a bad accident involving a boat propeller.

The incident happened at about 7:45 a.m on Laurel River Lake. According to witness Rick Kuchlee, the victim, Jeff Mayne, 49, of Berea, was found screaming on Craig's Creek Bank of the lake. Kuchlee said the victim had been fishing and released the boat drain plug on his boat, and then he somehow fell off the boat.

Mayne, who apparently was not wearing a kill switch for the boat, was in the water as the boat started to go in circles. The victim was then injured when the boat prop hit his lower legs.

Kuchlee said Mayne appeared to have cuts to his lower legs and possibly a broke ankle. He was taken from the scene by ambulance. His condition is unknown.
