A man suffered injuries during an apparent home invasion in Lexington overnight.

Police say the victim told them a woman he knows answered a knock at the door of an apartment on Cambridge Drive around Midnight Wednesday. When she opened the door, two armed men forced their way inside. Police say one man was armed with an assault rifle, the other with a hand gun. The two intruders assaulted the man inside, and during the altercation, one of the suspects hit the victim over the head with the butt of the rifle. The victim suffered a cut to the head, and the suspects fled.

EMS took the victim to the hospital for treatment. Police say they expect him to be OK.

Investigators say officers found the woman involved sitting in an SUV across the street, and they are questioning her about the incident.

Police say the suspects didn't take anything from the apartment. The victim was not able to give a good description. Police say he told them that men both wore something covering their faces.
